Book Description: It’s 1889. The city is on the cusp of industry and power, and the Exposition Universelle has breathed new life into the streets and dredged up ancient secrets. Here, no one keeps tabs on dark truths better than treasure-hunter and wealthy hotelier Séverin Montagnet-Alarie. When the elite, ever-powerful Order of Babel coerces him to help them on a mission, Séverin is offered a treasure that he never imagined: his true inheritance.
To hunt down the ancient artifact the Order seeks, Séverin calls upon a band of unlikely experts: An engineer with a debt to pay. A historian banished from his home. A dancer with a sinister past. And a brother in arms if not blood.
Together, they will join Séverin as he explores the dark, glittering heart of Paris. What they find might change the course of history–but only if they can stay alive.

First off let me just start with I really like the cover of this book, I feel it is simplistic and yet really pretty at the same time.

This was another book I had on my to-be-read list for a while and again so glad I finally read it. I really enjoyed it and it captured me right from the beginning. I am not sure how to choose who is the main character, I know there is one person that stands out, but I feel all of the characters play a vital role in this story, and it wouldn’t work without them all. The dynamic between them just flows so well and they all bring something important to the table. You slowly learn bits and pieces about them as you read and it helps enhance the story. I really enjoyed that you get chapters based on the character.

The plot of this book flows well and keeps you wanting more as you read. I enjoyed the descriptions that are thrown into it because it makes you imagine what is going on and really bring it to life. The writing is well done and I love the banter that happens between the characters, give me a good sarcastic banter and I am hooked. What I also really enjoy is the story this book weaves, at the end, you are left wanting more. I need to know what is going to happen to all of these characters. I truly think that this should be made into a movie or a show because there is just so much fun you could have with it.

I definitely recommend this book and I am so excited to read the next in this series because I must know what happens.
