Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children Series

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (#1): A mysterious island. An abandoned orphanage. A strange collection of curious photographs. A horrific family tragedy sets sixteen-year-old Jacob journeying to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the crumbling ruins of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. They may have been quarantined on a deserted island for good reason. And somehow—impossible though it seems—they may still be alive. Hollow City (#2): Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children was the surprise best seller of 2011—an unprecedented mix of YA fantasy and vintage photography that enthralled readers and critics alike. Publishers Weekly called it “an enjoyable, eccentric read, distinguished by well-developed characters, a believable Welsh setting, and some very creepy monsters.” This second novel begins in 1940, immediately after the first book ended. Having escaped Miss Peregrine’s island by the skin of their teeth, Jacob and his new friends must journey to London, the peculiar capital of the world. Along the way, they encounter new allies, a menagerie of peculiar animals, and other [...]

Tiger’s Destiny (Tiger Saga #4)

2016-05-02T14:42:43-06:00May 2nd, 2016|Tags: , , , , |0 Comments

Book Description: With three of the goddess Durga's quests behind them, only one prophecy now stands in the way of Kelsey, Ren, and Kishan breaking the tiger's curse. But the trio's greatest challenge awaits them: A life-endangering pursuit in search of Durga's final gift, the Rope of Fire, on the Andaman Islands in the Bay of Bengal.  It's a race against time--and the evil sorcerer Lokesh--in this eagerly anticipated fourth volume in the bestselling Tiger's Curse series, which pits good against evil, tests the bonds of love and loyalty, and finally reveals the tigers' true destinies once and for all I have finished the last book in the Tiger Saga series and I have to say it was a good ending. It had some emotional moments that the others didn't have. In fact for the last 20 or so pages I was basically crying for different reason! Not many books can make me cry but this one did, there was sad crying and happy crying. I think it might have been my favorite of the series, which again is rare for me to like the last book in a series more than [...]

Tiger’s Voyage (The Tiger Saga #3)

2016-05-02T14:48:35-06:00April 27th, 2016|Tags: , , , , |0 Comments

Book Description: With the head-to-head battle against the villainous Lokesh behind her, Kelsey confronts a new heartbreak: in the wake of his traumatic experience, her beloved Ren no longer remembers who she is. As the trio continues their quest by challenging five cunning and duplicitous dragons, Ren and Kishan once more vie for her affections--leaving Kelsey more confused than ever. I just finished the third book the The Tiger Saga series by Colleen Houck. I am mostly enjoying this series so far. I am getting a little annoyed with the poor pitiful me mood that Kelsey sometimes gets into. I get it maybe in the first book because these adventures are new to her and what she is having to do is hard, but she is on the third quest by now. It seems to be that there is like an outline for each quest in each book. She has to do something and gets super scared and whiney about it and then she somehow gets hurt in some way or another and almost dies. Now don't get me wrong this doesn't make me not like the series I just wish [...]

Passenger (Passenger #1)

2016-05-02T14:45:36-06:00April 19th, 2016|Tags: , , , , , |0 Comments

I was walking through Costco a while ago and was looking in the book section for a book for my friend for her birthday. I happened to see the cover of this book and I was like hey this is a cool cover, then I read about it and was like that sounds interesting and it is going to be a series not just one book (my friend really likes series books, as do I). Well we ended up not getting a chance to meet up after I bought it and I had about a month until we had a chance to meet up again (she lives in a different state) so I thought hey we share books she won't mind if I read this one, so I did. Man am I glad I did! I loved it! Here is the description before I get too far into my review: In one devastating night, violin prodigy Etta Spencer loses everything she knows and loves. Thrust into an unfamiliar world by a stranger with a dangerous agenda, Etta is certain of only one thing: she has traveled not just miles but years [...]
